New Developments in Autism Therapy Overshadowed

New Developments in Autism Therapy Overshadowed by Grief From Some Families.

There were some new developments in autism therapy announced. However the news wasn’t very cheerful for many with autistic familiy members,

This Means Report video gets to the heart of the issues.

April was Autism Awareness Month, and as the month came to an end, the CSRA faced a tragedy. Seven year old Hannah Ross, the daughter of Fort Gordon’s new major, came up missing and was found hours later in a lake near their home. Hannah was autistic. As The Means Report begins, we take a look back at that tragic day just one week ago. We also look at the stereotyping autistic children face, and a new development that could aid in the therapy of those children.

You see the brightly colored jigsaw puzzle piece, and you know it is the symbol for autism awareness. Do you know what autism is, though? Do you know the signs, the symptoms, and what children with the disorder face? Do you know what their families face? Kristen Breece knows first hand. She is an autism advocate and the mother of an austistic son. Valarie Chapman also knows. She is an autism occupational therapist and works with autistic children every day. Both women join Brad Means to talk about autism, the education and awareness that is needed, and how you can better understand the disorder. They also tell you about a chance to help raise money for the cause.
