The heat of pressure on families without autism insurance is only slightly cooled by the breath of relief from new parents.

Ball family of Brighton describe life without autism insurance.

Great news for families in the state of Michigan who are in need of insurance for autism. With autism rates on the rise the threat of doom is prevalent in those who are left exposed to financial ruin on top of tragic family emotional distress.

The law comes too late for countless others, like the Ball family of Brighton.

We first met them three years ago. They will never get back the tens of thousands they have spent on their son, Braeden’s care…

“Going from completely non-verbal and tons of behavioral issues to realizing that Braden has a chance. And, even though life wasn’t going to be what we hoped it was when we first had Braeden, that life is gonna be an exciting adventure and there is some hope for the future,” said John Ball, Braeden’s father.

But that hope has come at a high price.

“Do you have 30 grand that you can just spend and hope this helps your kid? Because with Autism there is no guarantee,” said Braeden’s mother Cyndi Ball…

“When you are looking at $72 a half hour, plus gas mileage, and you need to be there three times a week, and that’s just one of the multitude of therapies, it’s extremely overwhelming,” Cyndi said.

It’s a story with an ending that could and is quite different for countless too many others.  Read more at the website http://www.abc12.com/story/18588177/law-requires-insurance-companies-to-cover-autism.

What would have happened to the child if the family could not have been able to come up with the price of the therapy?

Does the child go without? Do the parents become more frustrated? Is the family fractured? Will the child who does not get therapy never have an opportunity to live a productive life? To never be experience fulfillment? To be a dependent on family and society for life?

Please leave your comments here and spread awareness of the need for autism insurance in all states.
