Autism in Utah – Rates and Insurance

Why is Autism in Utah so Widespread?

Since the recent release of autism rates by the CDC, advocates, doctors and concerned individuals have been asking why the rate of autism in Utah has grown so fast.

Several decades ago autism was not so prevelant. So what has caused this spike in autism related disorders. Autism rates in Utah have skyrocketed to one in 47 children.

But why in Utah. Is it genetics? In other parts of the world like New Jersey and South Korea autism rates are as high or higher.

So are environmental factors the cause?

Many point to chemicals in the environment. Was it chemicals in plastic, pesticides or some other chemicals that have been experimented with and now not used? If so we may never find out the reason for the dramatic increase in autism.

Is it genetic? Is it something in the food?

Find out the answers in the interview by Rod Decker of KUTV.com.
